Learning Management Systems
A learning management system (LMS) helps instructors manage an online course. Using an LMS (and a web browser), students and instructors may log in from anywhere in the world to access their class materials and interact with one another. NC State currently utilizes three learning management systems, Vista, Moodle, and WolfWare.
Blackboard Vista
Vista, a full-featured learning management system, provides a collection of learning tools which facilitate online communication, content presentation, assessment and classroom management.
Moodle
Moodle, an open-source full-featured learning management system, provides a similar collection of learning tools and is being piloted at NC State.
WolfWare
WolfWare was developed at NC State. It provides the NC State campus with a web-based course-management environment to deliver course content and enhance interaction.
For assistance with Vista, Moodle or WolfWare, students should email help@ncsu.edu.
For each course using an LMS, the course details page generally indicates which LMS is being used. To find the course details page for your course, go to Courses; find your course listed under its semester or summer session and department; click on the title of the course to retrieve the course details page.
PLEASE NOTE: Access to course websites may be restricted to registered students
and may not be available until the start of the semester.
