Online Distance Education Non-Degree Studies (NDS) Application
What You Are Applying For
You are applying for eligibility to register as a part-time Distance Education (DE) student. Admission to Non-Degree Studies does not imply admission to an undergraduate or graduate degree program. Students admitted to Non-Degree Studies are classified as non degree seeking. Grades earned as a Non-Degree Studies student will go toward the student's NC State University grade point average, not the student's GPA for grades earned outside NCSU.
Do complete this application if:
- You are enrolling as a first time Distance Education Non-Degree Studies (NDS)student
- You have not been continually enrolled at NC State as a NDS student (summer enrollment is not considered)
- You are an international student not currently enrolled in a degree program at NC State. (Additional documents may be required.)
Do not complete this application if:
- You are a current NC State Degree Student. Click here for information on registration.
- You are a current NDS student and were enrolled in courses last semester. You are already eligible to register.
- You are a student enrolling in an Engineering Online graduate degree course. Click here for information on registration.
- You were suspended from an institution of higher learning (other than NC State) within the last 3 years. *Students suspended from other institutions within the past 3 years are NOT eligible to register.
- You do not have a high school diploma or GED. Click here for information.
- You have had your high school diploma or GED less than one year. (summer sessions are excluded)
Instructions for Completing the Online Application
Step One- Student Registration Application:
- Complete this Online Application carefully and accurately.
- Once you "SUBMIT" the Online Application you cannot return to the pages and make corrections. If you do have to make corrections, please Contact Us.
Step Two- North Carolina Residency Form:
- Complete the NC Residency Form if you would like to be considered a Resident for Tuition Purposes in North Carolina (In-State Tuition). If you do not fill out this form, or this does not apply to you, Out-Of-State Tuition charges will applied when you register for courses.
- Once you "SUBMIT" the NC Residency Application you cannot return to the pages and make corrections. If you do have to make corrections, please Contact Us.
- Approximately 2 business days after submitting your application, you will be contacted via the e-mail address you provided regarding the status of your application. If you are accepted into the Non-Degree Studies Program, the e-mail will provide your Unity ID, Student ID Number, and Personal Identification Number (PIN). This information is necessary to register for classes.
