Registration
Eligibility
Prior to registration you must establish eligibility. If you are a current NC State Degree student, or a Non-Degree Studies student (NDS) who has maintained continuous enrollment and is in good academic standing, you are already eligible. NDS students who have skipped a semester will need to complete the application provided below. *International students not currently enrolled in a degree program at NC State should complete the online application. (Additional documents may be required.)
Non-Degree Studies Application
Students who are on academic suspension from NC State may be eligible to take Distance Education classes, but will need to complete the Academic Advisor Authorization form located on our Forms page.
Registration Instructions
Online Through My Pack Portal (formerly Pack Tracks)
Students may access the the online registration system using your Unity ID, Unity password, and PIN number. Your schedule will appear in My Pack Portal within 48 hours.
Just like all NC State courses, Distance Education courses occasionally will carry a registration restriction. For information on what the restrictions mean please visit: http://distance.ncsu.edu/registration/restrictions.html. In addition, Engineering Online and Textile Off-Campus courses may not be added online. Please see the "Program Registration" section below for registration for those programs.
When using the online registration system, please keep in mind that Distance Education courses have section numbers of 601 and higher. Only these sections are billed at the Distance Education tuition rates (see Tuition & Fees). All other section numbers are considered on-campus and are billed as such.
Paper-Based
Students may choose to download, complete, and return the Registration Request Form (located on our Forms page) to the Distance Education office. You will be notified once your registration is processed.
