Description
MBA@RTP is an on-site program designed for working professionals who wish to develop skills and knowledge to advance their careers in the technology-focused business world. Students meet in a face-to-face format in Research Triangle Park, North Carolina. The curriculum is built around three elements: core courses (accounting, economics, finance, marketing, management, operations, and strategy), a specialized concentration, and electives. The concentration requirement consists of three courses in a specialized business field that often includes working closely with a corporate client to solve real business problems.

(What can I do with this program of study?)
The MBA@RTP program is the only program of its kind in North Carolina. With its technology focus and proximity to, and relationships with, Research Triangle Park businesses, the program is continually growing in quality, recognition, and relevance to the global workplace. It provides students with the knowledge, experience, and tools needed for career growth. Graduates from our program have an exceptional placement history with companies throughout the world. Curriculum
(What will I learn?)
The curriculum is built around three elements: core courses, a specialized concentration, and open electives. Core courses include accounting, economics, finance, marketing, management, operations, and strategy. In addition, each student takes the unique Managerial and Career Effectiveness course to polish interpersonal and communication skills. The concentration requirement consists of three courses in a specialized business field that often includes working closely with a corporate client to solve real business problems.
Admissions requirements
(Is this the program for me? How do I apply?)
Admission to the MBA program is highly competitive. Successful applicants demonstrate:
- Strong intellectual performance and academic promise, evidenced by previous undergraduate and graduate work as well as GMAT scores;
- An employment history demonstrating management potential through full-time work, volunteer, or military experiences;
- Leadership skills, maturity, creativity, initiative and teamwork orientation;
- A desire and willingness to learn about technology and the management challenges it creates.
Please be aware that admissions decisions are based on a combination of the factors outlined above. Although GPA and GMAT are important factors, high scores in either or both of these areas does not guarantee admission.
Prerequisites for admission:
- A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university;
- One course in calculus;
- Professional employment; two years of full-time, post-baccalaureate professional employment is required.
Students are admitted to the program twice a year, for Fall and Spring. Deadine for Fall admission is early February. Deadline for Spring admission is mid-October.
