HACCP / Food Safety Managers Certificate Program
The Department of Food Science offers food safety specific courses that can be taken on an individual basis or can lead to non-degree HACCP / Food Safety Managers Certificates. The Certificates can be earned entirely through distance education credit courses. The program is divided into two Tiers, each consisting of 3 courses.
Tier One consists of:
FS 350 - Intro to HACCP
FS 351 - SSOPs
FS 353 - GMPs
Successful completion of Tier One will yield a HACCP Coordinator Certificate.
Tier Two consists of:
FS 352 - Intro to Microbiological Food Safety Hazards
FS 354 - Food Sanitation
FS 407 - Risk Analysis/Hazard Analysis in Food Safety
In order to receive a Food Safety Managers Certificate, students must successfully complete the six courses of Tier One and Tier Two. Courses may be taken in any order, however, certificates will only be awarded upon successful completion of the required courses. Students do not have to complete all six courses if they do not desire a certificate, and may take courses according to their individual interests and needs.
