Engineering Online: Graduate Courses and Degree Programs

Engineering Online offers a variety of graduate courses each semester in different areas of engineering and computer science. Individuals must have completed a bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science or related area from an accredited institution. Full-time employed individuals are limited to enrollment in two graduate courses each semester. Admission to a graduate degree program is not required for enrollment in an online class. However, students are expected to have completed the prerequisite for the courses. The online courses are the same as the on-campus courses in terms of quality and academic rigor. Students must register through the Engineering Online website at http://EngineeringOnline.ncsu.edu and not through the University’s Pack Tracks system.

Graduate degree programs are available to help individuals complete an advanced degree without having to come to campus. Most students enjoy the flexibility and convenience of taking an online course while continuing their professional careers. The degree programs do not require on campus residency, thesis or oral exams. Individuals can take up to 12 hours as a Post Baccalaureate Student (PBS) before being admitted to a degree program. However, only courses taken as a PBS student with a grade of B or higher (not a B-) can transfer into a degree program.

Admissions:

To be considered for admission in full graduate standing, an applicant must have a baccalaureate degree from a college or university recognized as standard by a regional or general accrediting agency and must have at least a "B" average in the undergraduate major or in the latest graduate degree program. View the NC State Graduate School website for more information: http://www2.acs.ncsu.edu/grad/.
