Application Process

Eligible Applicants: (to apply as (NDS) Non-Degree Students)

New NDS Students
Current NDS students enrolled in courses last semester. You are already eligible to enroll.
Returning NDS Students
(who have missed one or more regular semesters)

Non-Eligible Applicants: (to apply as (NDS) Non-Degree Students)

Current NC State Degree Students: you are already eligible to enroll, go to the MyPack Portal to sign up for on-campus and DE courses.
Students suspended from an institution of higher learning within the last 3 years. More Info >>
- Students suspended from other institutions within the past 3 years are NOT eligible to register.
- Currently suspended NCSU degree students should complete the Academic Advisor Authorization form.
Applicants who do not have a high school diploma or GED. (AEO Information)
Applicants who have had their high school diploma or GED less than one year. (summer sessions are excluded)

Applicants are required to pay a $25.00 non-refundable NDS application processing fee. *
The application is effective for a period of one year.

Once we have received your application and processed it, we will provide you with all the information you will need to register for classes online: Your Unity ID and password. Applications are processed within five business days of receipt and you will receive your registration information via e-mail. NDS students will begin registration during "Open Enrollment."

International Applicants: All prospective students in a non-immigrant status must complete the Distance Education Clearance Form for International Applicants . This form should be completed and returned to the Distance Education office with the appropriate documentation via fax, e-mail (as a .pdf or .jpg attachment), regular mail, or in person before each semester.
If you are a US Permanent Resident, please send a copy of your PR card (front & back).

If you need assistance in selecting courses, our Academic Advisor is available to help you.
NDS students are limited to taking two academic classes and one physical education class per semester.
Students enrolling in Summer Sessions are limited to two academic courses per session.

Pay your required Tuition and Fees

Click on the tuition and fees link at the Cashier's Office for the current rates.
The tuition and fees charges for Distance Education courses are separate and distinct from the Tuition and Fees charged for on-campus courses. Distance Education courses are identified with a 600 or greater section number. On-campus tuition and fee charges are determined based solely on on-campus enrollment. Distance Education tuition and fee charges are determined based solely on Distance Education enrollment. See the distance Education website for information on DE Tuition and fee schedules.
You must pay your account balance, be approved for Financial Aid, sponsorship, or enrolled in an authorized payment plan by the due date associated with your enrollment period or you schedule is subject to cancellation.
