Media Based

Media-based courses primarily take the shape of DVD's and/or CD-ROM's. These courses generally work well for students who want to learn from their own homes or offices. Assignments might be delivered to the instructor by email, fax, mail or the Internet. Interaction with the instructor is strongly encouraged and should take place on a regular basis through either phone, email, fax or campus-visits. Student communication is increasingly supported through online chats, threaded discussions and group projects.

In most cases, students will acquire their DVD's and/or CD's from the NC State Bookstore beginning two weeks prior to the start of the semester. It is the student's responsibility to be able to watch the media, with DVD's provided in DVD-R format. Students can request the media online or pick them up in person at the NCSU Bookstores. For additional information and Loan Agreement Terms, visit the NCSU Bookstores website or call (919) 515-6113.

On occasion, a course may require visits to campus for assignments and/or exams. Please check the course InfoFACT or with the Professor for individual course requirements. The InfoFACT(a detailed informational sheet) for each course is available by visiting the Courses link, selecting a semester, department, and then a course from the listing. You will see a link to the right of each course for the InfoFACT.
