Delivery Formats: Internet

The fastest growing contingent of DE courses offered by NC State is that of Internet-based or WWW courses. While these courses require the most computer savvy and technical sophistication, they also allow the greatest flexibility. Participants work through individual lessons at their own pace, rarely – if at all - travel to campus or a nearby facility, and are able to interact extensively with both the instructor and peers through online communication tools. Assignments are most commonly submitted via email, fax or online and tests are often administered via a proctoring at a site convenient to the learner or as a take-home exam. NC State provides a robust learning environment for these courses through tools such as WebCT VISTA,Wolfware, WebAssign and Elluminate.

When registering for DE Internet courses, please note that they are identified in Pack Tracks with a 601 section number or higher. All other section numbers are considered on-campus "web-based" courses.

On occasion, a course may require visits to campus for assignments and/or exams. Please check the Course Details Sheet or with the Professor for individual course requirements. The Course Details Sheet (a detailed informational sheet) for each course is available by visiting the Courses link, selecting a semester, department, and then a course from the listing. You will see a link to the right of each course for the Course Details Sheet.
